Break Recap - 2018 Super Mixer #5

We ran our another super mixer on Friday night! The super mixers have been a lot of fun, with a lot of hits and chances to look at a bunch of different cards. Here's a box by box breakdown of what we pulled out of seven boxes with 30 hits total(we were expecting 28):

2018 Panini Chronicles: Chronicles has been really enjoyable in its 2018 incarnation, with fifteen different insert sets, so this is a chance to see a lot of cool looking cards. Each box has three autos and one relic card. Our autos from this box were a Lane Adams(Cubs) base auto out of the Panini set, a Jose Osuna(Pirates) base auto out of Select, and a great looking Gleyber Torres(Yankees) base Spectra auto. Our relic was a nice Anthony Santander(Orioles) triple relic patch out of Spectra numbered out of 49. For numbered cards some we pulled included a Dustin Pedroia blue Spectra /99, a Mookie Betts blue Chronicles /199, a Mike Trout Limited /199, a Bryce Harper green parallel out of Prizm /50, and a JP Crawford Score parallel /25. A nice box with a cool relic and a good looking Torres auto.

2018 Topps Chrome Jumbo: Chrome in 2018 was definitely a favorite, with lots of on card autos from many of the notable rookies. In this box we were expecting five autos and pulled six: Jordan Luplow(Pirates), a redemption for a purple refractor auto of Francisco Mejia(Indians), Max Fried(Braves), Hunter Wood(Rays), Adrian Sanchez(Nationals), and a Harrison Bader(Cardinals) refractor auto out of 499. Numbered cards included a Clayton Kershaw purple refractor /299 and a Cody Allen gold wave refractor /50.

2018 Topps Hi Tek: Hi Tek has 40 cards per box, with two autos in each box. Cards feature different patterns for the National League and the American League. Our autos here were a Scott Kingery(Phillies) base auto and a black orbit diffractor of Miguel Andujar(Yankees) out of 50. Some of the numbered cards pulled included a Mookie Betts Pyrotechnics galactic diffractor /99, a Tom Glavine black diffractor /50, and an orange orbit diffractor of Roger Clemens /25. We also pulled all but a pattern one of Jacob DeGrom's base card, which was fun.

2018 Bowman's Best: Bowman's Best has four autos per box, mostly featuring prospects but also some established players. The autos were Riley Adams(Blue Jays), Kevin Kramer(Pirates), Jordyn Adams(Angels), and a green refractor auto out of 99 of Victor Robles for the Nationals. Other cards included a gold refractor of Dustin Fowler /50 and a Justus Sheffield purple refractor /250.

2018 Leaf Metal Draft: Leaf Metal Draft features six autos per box with a lot of the hottest prospects on the auto list. Our autos were Shane McClanahan(Rays), a Nico Hoerner red parallel out of 20 for the Cubs, Griffin Conine(Blue Jays), a purple Andrew Knizer(Cardinals) numbered out of 15, a Jordyn Adams(Angels) Top Picks blue out of 35, and Casey Mize for the Tigers. Mize is one of the hottest prospects right now so he was a nice one to pull.

2018 Bowman Hi Tek: Bowman Hi Tek features only a few cards, but a lot of those are autos. Autos here were Jeren Kendall(Dodgers), Tristen Lutz(Brewers), Jesus Sanchez(Rays), and a redemption of Jo Adell for the Angels. We also pulled a gold refractor out of fifty of Heliot Ramos for the Giants. The Hi Tek design on prospects makes for a really nice product.

2018 Topps Tier One: Tier One is a hits only product, featuring two autos and one relic per box. This box actually had four hits: a redemption of a Break Out auto of Clint Frazier, a Walker Buehler auto numbered to 275, a Jose Altuve relic numbered out of 400, and a very cool Nelson Cruz one of one All-Star patch for the Mariners. A nice box for our first time opening Tier One!

Check out what we pulled below:

There were a lot of nice pulls from this mixer. The Yankees got a few cool autos including the Torres and the Andujar. The Nelson Cruz Tier One relic was a really great 1/1 patch to pull for the Mariners. Awesome to pull multiple hits for teams that don't always get them as well, like the Rays and the Pirates. It's always nice to get 30 hits when you're expecting 28 as well. A fun one!
