2020 Bowman Baseball Preview
This Friday marks the release of 2020 Bowman Baseball. This yearly release focuses on the new prospects that were recently drafted along with some other MLB players and older prospects. Players like Bobby Witt Jr, Adley Rutschman, and Andrew Vaughn highlight the set. Bowman is considered the go to for a players “1st” card because this will be their first set with their drafted teams. These Bowman 1st’s tend to be the players most valued card. Like always, it’s split between it’s paper and chrome base sets. Each of those sets have their own parallels with more chrome parallels than paper:
For the collectors out there, the paper firsts are always a good, inexpensive add to the PC. The extensive level of parallels on the chrome side make it a fun challenge to collect the rainbow of your favorite player. Their main attraction is the autograph set in Chrome. They are split in between prospects and rookies and the retail side now features some paper autos.
Your normal Bowman inserts are back as well including the Bowman Scouts Top 100, Rookie of the Year Favorites, and Talent Pipeline with their own parallels of colors and autographs. They do spice up the inserts with a couple of new sets. Hidden Finds features sleeper draft picks and Spanning the Globe with home country flags for the international prospects. The new inserts are going to bring some new life to the set. 1990 Bowman pops back up with a throwback design of current prospects (1:8 packs). Other autograph inserts in this set include Dual Bowman Prospect Autographs, Ultimate Autograph Book and All-American Game Autographs.
Lots of parallels give this product an added level of excitements. Many of these parallels are numbered and add rarity and value to already sought-after prospect cards. Autographs also come in the parallels to add more fun to chasing the hits as well. Look for Printing Plates, Shimmer Refractors, and 1/1 Superfractors!
Don't forget the Rookies! Bowman also features a great class of 2020 rookies to chase. Be on the look out for Aristides Aquino, Yordan Alvarez, Luis Robert, Gavin Lux, Bo Bichette and more! These only come in the paper but do have their parallels to chase as well.
Their new addition this year is the 1990 Bowman Buyback Autographs. There isn’t much information on this set yet, but after some research, Frank Thomas, Sammy Sosa, and Ken Griffey Jr were all a part of the original 1990 Bowman set. That wouldn’t be a bad pull on break day.
This year's most valued card is a tie between Jasson Dominguez and Adley Rutschman. Dominguez is a 17 year old outfielder that scouts project to have the same pop as his Yankee teammate Aaron Judge. Rutschman, the #1 pick, is a catcher that can hit the ball at the major league level already. Scouts see him on the same track as Harper, but with better contact. He’s already one of the Orioles best players, so his card will be highly sought after. Some other prospects to collect in this set:
Bobby Witt Jr 1st
Robert Pauson 1st
Andrew Vaughn
Riley Greene
Josh Jung
J.J. Bleday
C.J. Abrams
Kody Hoese
Brett Baty
Nick Lodolo
